Make believe

Make believe, 2003, oil on canvas, exhibited as part of JKF at Marios, Fitzroy 2003

Play.
A boy and a girl.
A bright day outside. A freeway to the city.
Wooden building blocks can be anything.
He's got the cowboy. She, the Chief. This time.
You've got to take it in turns to be the bad guy.

'What's the place called again?'
'Dealey Plaza. Don't you remember?'
'What is a Grassy Knoll?'

An isolated motel carpark

An isolated motel carpark, 1999, oil on canvas, exhibited as part of On the run at Marios Fitzroy

Spying through the venetians; a crime scene, a crappy motel carpark, a cowgirl with six shooters, a Ford Falcon 1969 station wagon, white, that appears to be abandoned, lights still on, parked askew.

The body outline has a weird head. Is that for real?

The cowgirl means business but the cop's over there. I hope she doesn't hear the crack of the venetian blind as I bend it to get a better look. Does she see the movement in the gloom?
