Monumental dog, 2001, oil on linen exhibited as part of Natural disasters, Marios Fitzroy
Standing tall and strong on the plain is the Monumental dog. He is unperturbed by the volcano erupting behind him, a great cloud of ash flying to the heavens, lava and fire pouring forth. Equally, the twirling swirling brooding ripping-things-up twister is of no concern.
People come running from all around, across the plains and over the dry river bed, to this place of refuge, this haven, calm, the eye of these storms.
Here by the pond, the comfort of a hug and a faithful friend make everything okay.
